  • About The Role

  • There’s plenty about Topps Group that might surprise you. Like the scale of our Support Office in Leicester. We have Finance, Marketing, Buying, Central Operations, HR, Property, Customer Service and IT all under one roof. Tight-knit teams of talented people working together and working hard to get things done and drive results. But then, would you expect anything less from an ambitious, dynamic, market-leading, multi-million-pound retail business? After delivering our 20% market share goal of “one in five” in 2023, we have launched our new goal – Mission 365 – targeting £365 million of sales

We are currently looking for a Regional Health and Safety Manager to join our team! Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you'll play a key role in shaping, driving, and embedding a best-in-class safety culture across our Retail and Supply Chain operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence real change, work with senior stakeholders, and make a meaningful impact across the business. This is a field based role covering the Midlands and the North with the expectation of one day a week in our Leicester hub.

    What you’ll be doing

As our Health & Safety expert, you’ll act as a trusted partner to operational leaders, ensuring we meet and exceed regulatory standards while continuously improving how we keep our people safe.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    • Leading all aspects of Health & Safety compliance across operational activities, including Retail and Logistics
    • Owning and developing our H&S management system, ensuring documentation, policies, and procedures are up to date and aligned to legislation and best practice
    • Acting as the go-to specialist for all H&S matters, providing guidance and expert advice to leadership teams
    • Driving a culture where health & safety is embedded in everyday decisions and behaviours
    • Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
    • Managing H&S data, producing insightful reports and KPIs to drive performance improvement
    • Supporting the development and delivery of the H&S strategy, alongside the Head of Health & Safety
    • Leading or supporting safety improvement projects, targeting risk reduction and operational excellence
    • Ensuring effective training and induction programmes are in place for employees, contractors, and agency staff
    • Conducting audits and inspections, using modern tools and methods to maintain high standards
    • Managing personal injury claims in partnership with third-party providers, including insurers
    • Keeping the business informed on legislative changes and industry best practice
    • Facilitating H&S engagement through committees and collaboration across the organisation
    • Supporting the ongoing development of systems and technology to enhance safety performance
    • Acting as a key member of the wider H&S team, including providing cover for the Head of H&S when needed

    What we’re looking for

We’re searching for a confident and experienced Health & Safety professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and influencing skills. You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving high safety standards across a complex operation.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

    • Proven experience (ideally at management level) leading Health & Safety across retail, warehousing, or logistics environments, or similar high-risk industries
    • A strong understanding of key risk areas such as fire safety, manual handling, MHE, and large vehicle operations
    • Advanced knowledge of fire safety management, with hands-on experience delivering fire risk assessments and audits (a recognised fire qualification is highly desirable)
    • The ability to interpret and apply H&S legislation relevant to retail and distribution environments
    • A proactive, self-motivated mindset with a positive and solutions-focused approach

    Additional requirements:

    • Willingness to travel (including occasional overnight stays) and flexibility to support operations outside normal hours
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI)
    • A recognised Health & Safety qualification, with at least Technical Membership of IOSH

    What we’ll do for you

In a culture where hard work is recognised and great results are rewarded; you can look forward to a company bonus that will give you a share of our success (up to 25% of your base salary). Then there’s a company car, private medical, generous staff discount, pension and life assurance, a holiday allowance that increases with length of service and a wide range of other benefits. Plus, flexible working, free on-site parking, generous discounts on products and services and more. A lot more. We’re committed to promoting talent from within too, which means you’ll be well-supported to build a rewarding career with an individual development plan and lots of training on offer.

At Topps Group we believe that diversity isn’t just a box to tick. We are committed to creating an authentic ‘One Topps’ culture, where our colleagues feel included and supported regardless of who they are or where they are from

Join us in shaping a culture where inclusion is more than a policy—it’s a daily practice.
